    DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Eufaula man accused of helping a Georgia doctor smuggle in thousands of illegal taxidermy birds and eggs into U.S. has been sentenced. A statement from the Department of Justice revealed Toney Jones, of Eufaula, was sentenced to six months probation after pleading guilty to an Endangered Species Act charge. The second suspect in the case, Dr. John Waldrop of Cataula, Georgia, was sentenced to serve three years of probation and pay a $900,000 fine.

    DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at a popular Dothan bar has been publicly identified Dothan Police Lt. Scott Owens identified the suspect as Katorrean Thomas. The shooting occurred early Sunday morning in the parking lot outside of The Crazy Monkey Bar & Grill. After the shooting, Dothan Police told WDHN that the shooting stemmed from an argument between Thomas and the victim. The victim was shot once in the upper torso.

    DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A new law has been signed in Alabama, officially reaffirming gold and silver as legal tender in the Yellowhammer state. Governor Kay Ivey signed SB138, or the Alabama Legal Tender Act, into law last week. According to the law, “any refined gold or silver bullion, specie, or coin that has been stamped, marked, or imprinted with its weight and purity” will be recognized as legal tender in the state.

    DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — An Ozark man is behind bars after police say he fired several shots into an apartment after a fight with his ex. Julius Noel McGuire was arrested on Sunday and charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied building. Police say McGuire was connected to a shooting at Jasmine Hill apartments early Sunday morning.
