DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A search is underway for a black SUV after a bicyclist was hit in Daleville Friday morning. The man was hit on Daleville Avenue, near Industrial Boulevard, shortly after 8:00 a.m. Daleville Police Chief John Crawford says the hit-and-run does not appear intentional, and the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — An officer with the Napier Field Police Department was arrested this week on misdemeanor trespassing charges. Officials with the Midland City Police Department confirmed that Officer Daniel Sanders turned himself in to authorities in Midland City this week on charges of criminal trespassing at a home.

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan man accused of killing his wife and dumping her body in a Florida panhandle ditch over 2 decades ago has been denied the chance to be set free before his trial. Dwight Mills’ plea to have his murder and corpse abuse charges dismissed was denied by Houston County Judge Henry Binford on Wednesday. Mills asked to have his charges dismissed in early May, claiming that there is no proof that his wife, Sharon Mills, was murdered based on her autopsy.

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Enterprise State baseball standout and Troy signee Jabe Boroff has been named the Alabama Sports Writers Association 2025 Community College Athlete of the Year. Boroff batted .452 with 20 home runs, 62 runs batted in, 68 runs scored, and five bases stolen. The Boll Weevils had an overall record of 34-16. Boroff was chosen from a pool of candidates in sports like volleyball, tennis, swimming, and soccer. “I’m really excited,” Boroff said in a release from the ASWA.

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — The long-anticipated trial of a young woman whose baby boy died after police claim she placed him in a dumpster with a trash compactor will have to wait another year. After a hearing Wednesday morning, it was determined that Jakayla Williams would not stand trial until after February 2026. An exact trial date has not been set. Williams has been in the Houston County jail since her arrest in August 2023. She is facing one count of capital murder in the death of her newborn son.
