RAVENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – A Springfield Township firefighter facing rape charges in Mahoning County is now facing similar charges in Portage County. An indictment filed Thursday in Portage County Court of Common Pleas charges Brian Swansiger, 28, with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and two counts of kidnapping. The indictment states that Swansiger allegedly raped and restrained a 25-year-old woman around January 1, 2024 in Portage County.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Angel Williams said as a victim of stalking, she has seen a need for more resources to help survivors. She is taking up some of those responsibilities with a new local nonprofit organization called Shielding Angels. Registered with the state in 2023, she is now ready to hit the ground running. The organization has a couple of fundraisers planned and has been working with victims of stalking and harassment to offer guidance.

(WKBN) – Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol issued 2,631 citations for seat belt violations as part of an enforcement effort involving multiple jurisdictions. The numbers were released Friday by the Highway Patrol. As part of the “6-State Trooper Project,” another 83 citations were also issued relating to child safety seat violations. The eight-day initiative ran from Monday, May 19 through Monday, May 26.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Window World has filed a response in a wrongful death lawsuit following a home explosion in Ellsworth Township that killed four people. The lawsuit filed by administrators for the estates of the deceased alleged that workers putting siding on the home damaged propane gas lines but failed to recognize they had damaged those lines, leading to the explosion.
