AMHERST, Ohio — An Amherst man is dead after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend. According to a Facebook post by the City of Amherst Police Department, the incident took place on Sunday, April 13 at approximately 8:45 p.m near South Lake Street and Milan Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 69-year-old man identified as James Denger in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle has been identified by name, but is said to be an 85-year-old man.

ELYRIA, Ohio — Elyria police arrested a 17-year-old boy after he allegedly stabbed a 31-year-old man at a city residence on Tuesday. At approximately 8:28 a.m., police responded to a reported stabbing in the 400 block of Garford Avenue. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers immediately provided medical aid to the victim while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
