    The Waverley is retirning to Clacton later this year (Image: Clacton Pier) The world’s last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer returns to the Sunshine Coast later this year. Tickets are now on sale for the Waverley, with five trips leaving Clacton Pier in September and October. Three of the voyages involve the ever popular River Thames sailings passing under a floodlit Tower Bridge and two other offer live entertainment on the way to their destinations.

    A historic photo of a Walton lifeboat crew (Image: Public) OVER the decades hundreds of lives have been saved by the RNLI's lifeboats based at Clacton and Walton. Clacton got its first lifeboat, which was donated by the Freemasons, in 1878. It was named Albert Edward after their Grand Master, the Prince of Wales - the future King Edward VII. The vessel was taken to Weeley by train and then on to Clacton by horse and cart.
