At 6am Wednesday morning, a pipe burst in Heybridge under The Street which caused water to run across the road and pavement. A video shared to social media showed water surging from beneath the pavement and across the junction to Hall Road. The incident was reported to Essex and Suffolk Water, who arrived within an hour and installed three-way traffic lights while they began work on the burst pipe. The pipe is across the road from several businesses, including Copsey Fish Bar on Hall Road.

On Thursday, Fish On The Quay in Church Street, Maldon, was closed until further notice. Maldon District Council’s environmental health team obtained a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order (HEPO) from Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court. It means the restaurant had to immediately stop operating due to a serious and immediate threat to public health. The council said its officers "moved quickly" to ensure residents and visitors’ health was protected.

The award-winning Smoke & Fire Festivals, celebrating the art of cooking with fire, will take place at Promenade Park in Maldon, on August 16 and 17. Their will also be an event at at the Windsor Enclosure, Ascot Racecourse, on July 5 and 6. Top chefs, butchers and food artisans will showcase their skills to food and drink enthusiasts. This year, the festival will debut new features, including a Latin and South American Quarter in collaboration with TACOVER, the UK’s largest taco festival.

Investigation - Police are investigating a fight in Burnham which left six people in hospital (Image: Essex Police) Six people were taken to hospital following an incident in Burnham on Crouch. Essex Police is investigating reports of disorder in the town on Monday evening as a fight broke out in Remembrance Avenue and Station Road at around 5.30pm.
