Friday, Governor Jim Pillen declaring a state of emergency for more than 20 counties impacted by this week’s winter storm. The combination of rain, sleet, hail, heavy snow, and high winds resulted in closures across multiple roadways, including Interstate 80. Conditions also did considerable damage to trees and power lines, resulting in a loss of electricity across multiple service areas. The heaviest damage occurred along the eastern part of the state.

Governor Jim Pillen issuing a statement Wednesday night regarding the winter storm that rocked much of the state, saying as of 5pm Wednesday, state troopers have responded to 22 crashes and 342 motorist assists across the state. Anyone who finds themselves stranded or in need of assistance can dial *55 or 1-800-525-5555 to reach the Nebraska State Patrol's Highway Helpline. Also, as of 7:45pm CT, I-80 from Wyoming to Lincoln is closed in at least one direction.
