With more funding sources uncertain for local nonprofits, everyone has a chance to keep vital services and projects in Hall, Hamilton, Howard, and Merrick Counties going through the 12th Annual Go Big GIVE. In 2025, 167 nonprofits have signed up to Set Sail for Giving during one of central Nebraska’s biggest days of giving. While Go Big GIVE is held on May 1, donors don’t have to wait to contribute at GoBigGIVE.org. Go Big GIVE Pre-Give wraps up April 30.

Corn growers are quickly moving along with 20 percent of the crop planted in Nebraska where the lack of moisture remains a concern. For the week ending April 27, 2025, there were 5 days suitable suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Some farmers wouldn't mind losing a day or two to rain. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 24% very short, 40% short, 36% adequate, and 0% surplus.
