LFR said the best way to prepare for a heat wave is to hydrate ahead of time as they are expecting this upcoming weekend to be a busy one for their phone lines. According to LFR, they recommend not going through water bottle fast but instead taking sips throughout the day.

Juneteenth holds special meaning for Donnell Jones, founder of Oasis Barbershop. “It means a lot to me as an African American male because far too many times, we don’t have representation of successful businesses that have lasted 30 years plus,” Jones said. His brother, KB Mensah, who owns the shop, shares similar values.

(KOLN) - It’s not often where nurses and doctors get to see their patients after they get discharged from the hospital, but Bryan Health changed that Friday evening reuniting caretakers and their former NICU patients. The last time Bryan Health hosted this type of reunion was ten years ago, this one, is for the health care company 100th birthday. Megan Phipps, her daughter Reece, was in the NICU for 144, the longest a patient has stayed and lived at Bryan Health East Campus.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Construction crews are ready to begin phase two of their lane expansion project from Northwest 56th Street to Pleasant Dale, a seven mile-long stretch, by diverting traffic to different lanes Thursday night. The project, which expands from four lanes to six, started in the spring of 2024 and the Nebraska Department of Transportation said it’s expected to be done by winter 2026.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a shooting in north Lincoln from Saturday morning. According to LPD, officers were dispatched to a home near 26th and Potter Streets around 10:30 a.m. for a stabbing. However, when police arrived, they found a 41-year-old Lincoln man and a 32-year-old Lincoln woman with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital, as of Saturday evening, both are in critical condition.
