FRANKLIN, Neb. (KSNB) - A former Franklin teacher and coach is now facing sex crime charges in trial court and has pleaded not guilty. Court records show 37-year-old Anthony Campana is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse by a school employee and manufacturing-visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct. He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

AURORA, Neb. (KSNB) - An Aurora man will need more treatment following a competency review hearing on Tuesday. Caleb Arnett, 30, is charged with murder for the stabbing death of his stepfather, Ross Nickolaus, in December 2023. Judge Lynelle Homolka ordered a competency evaluation shortly after the murder and Arnett has been in treatment at the Lincoln Regional Center ever since.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A teenager connected to a 2023 murder at Fonner Park is appealing his conviction and prison sentence. On March 9, 2023, 62-year-old Todd Scherer of Lincoln was killed in a horse barn at Fonner Park. Austin Kelly, 18, Grand Island, was convicted last year of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was sentenced to 18-38 years in prison.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - After a lengthy court battle, leading all the way to the Nebraska Supreme Court, AMC has now filed a federal lawsuit seeking damages for being forced to leave the Conestoga Marketplace. AMC filed their lawsuit on April 17 against Woodsonia (developer of the Conestoga Marketplace), their lead counsel, the City of Grand Island and the Community Redevelopment Authority of the City of Grand Island.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - More than 160 nonprofits in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick counties are gearing up for Go Big Give set for May 1. Many of these organizations host pre-give fundraisers ahead of the big day, including the Business Coalition for Veterans (BCV). The BCV is participating in its 7th year of Go Big Give, and 5th year of hosting a bake sale to help raise funds. It’s happening on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Destiny Church, located at 4306 W. Highway 30 in Grand Island.
