KANE COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A west suburban Montgomery man is going to stay in jail after prosecutors say he's admitted to abusing several kids. Michael Farris has been ordered to remain behind bars, pending a potential trial. The Kane County State's Attorney said, over 15 years, he sexually assaulted several children. The office said it happened between 2008 and 2022. Prosecutors said there are five victims, they were all between the ages of 13 and 17 when the alleged assaults happened.

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The longtime owner of a legendary Bridgeport bar has died. Jimbo's tavern was a hotspot for Sox fans for decades. The owner of the bar, Joseph "Jimbo" Levato, has now died. He was 89 years old. The Sun-Times reports Jimbo had been a dockhand at a South Side trucking company for nearly 30 years, and his second chapter of life was owning the bar. The bar shut down in 2008 because of a fight between Jimbo and the landlord.

Republican state senator Dan McConkie of Hawthorn Woods has announced he's resigning from the state Senate effective Feb. 2. He's been serving the 26th District for nearly nine years. McConkie says he's grateful for what he was able to accomplish in that time, calling serving in the state Senate the honor of a lifetime.
