    Later this month, a statue commemorating one of the most iconic sports moments in Maine’s history will be unveiled in Lewiston. The sculpture will immortalize Muhammad Ali’s historic knockout of Sonny Liston, which took place 60 years ago this month at what was then known as the Central Maine Civic Center. The 10-foot bronze statue, created by Pennsylvania-based sculptor Zenos Frudakis, is nearly complete after several years of work.

A recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of the nonprofit Good Sports found that 56% of parents are concerned they won’t be able to afford sports for their kids next year due to rising expenses. That concern is being felt right here in Maine.

    The Boston Marathon is one of the world's most prestigious long-distance races, and roughly 200 people from Maine took to the starting line in Hopkinton for the 129th edition.Ryan Jara of Gorham was the top finisher from Maine, who finished 70th overall with a time of 2:22:48. The 2024 Maine Marathon champion said seeing some of his friends along the course helped him push through."I was hoping to be a little bit faster, but I feel great. I was happy with that overall," Jara said.

Over the last 20 years, Bruschi has also gained notoriety for his work through Tedy's Team, the nonprofit organization he started with his family after suffering his first stroke in February 2005. "The biggest problem with me was I had a stroke and I didn't know I was having a stroke," Bruschi said.

One of those volunteers is from Maine, and he’s marking his 25th and final year working at Augusta National Golf Club. For Ron Moody, a former Maine State Trooper, volunteering at the Masters has been a dream come true. Now in his 25th year, Moody says being on the grounds at Augusta never gets old.
