    Portlaoise AFC has teamed up with the Midlands LGBT+ Project for Pride 5-a-side Football supported by the Laois Sports Partnership. The Midlands LGBT+ Project invites people to join us for a month of "fun-filled evenings of football" at the soccer club at Rosleighan in Portlaoise. "Lace up your boots, grab your rainbow gear, and get ready to show off your skills on the pitch," say the organisers. This sports event is open to both individual sign-ups and preassembled teams.

    RTÉ presenter Claire Byrne returned to her roots for a scenic walk in the Slieve Blooms, which features in final episode of Tracks & Trails on RTÉ 1. Claire, from Mountrath, joins with Doireann Ní Ghlacáin in the final episode of walk the Glenbarrow Old Mill Loop, a 10.5km trail that winds through forest, waterfalls, including the ruins of The Cones, which was the last inhabited village in the Laois Offaly mountains.

    A team of Laois Transition Year (TY) students has taken the top prize in a pilot project that is set to be rolled out across Ireland to encourage more young people to take up careers in agriculture.  Agri Aware and the Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) officially launched its Intro to Ag programme for TY students nationwide on Friday, May 16, following its successful trial in the two midland counties.
