The family of murdered GAA official Sean Brown have been applauded into court as they attend the latest hearing in their long legal battle. Mr Brown's 87-year-old widow, Bridie, was flanked by members of her family as they arrived at the Court of Appeal in Belfast. Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill and Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald were among those who walked with the Brown family as they approached the court building.

A protest has taken place at the offices of the UK government's legacy body in Belfast. It marks a year since criminal investigations and inquests into Troubles' murders were guillotined by controversial British legislation to deal with Northern Ireland's past. Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn has promised to repeal and replace much of the act which he inherited from the previous Tory government, including the restoration of inquest and civil actions.

The British government is to seek permission to appeal a court ruling that a public inquiry should be held into the murder of GAA official Sean Brown to the UK's Supreme Court in London. Northern Secretary Hilary Benn said he would also seek to provide a "comprehensive response" to questions posed to him by Northern Ireland's Court of Appeal, but he needed more time. At the beginning of April, Northern Ireland's Court of Appeal said an inquiry should be established without further delay.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said he hopes the publication of a report into the 1976 Kingsmill attack provides "some answers" to the families of those killed by the IRA in the atrocity. Ten Protestant workmen were shot dead by the IRA in south Armagh almost 50 years ago. The report by Northern Ireland's Police Ombudsman found that there were a number of errors in the original investigation following the attack.

A report into the murder of ten Protestant workmen, shot dead by the IRA in south Armagh almost 50 years ago, will be presented to families. The mill workers were shot dead at Kingsmill, near the village of Bessbrook outside Newry, as they returned home from work on Monday, 5 January 1976. Only one man, Alan Black, survived the shooting. The only Catholic on the bus was identified by the gunmen and told to leave the scene before the gunfire started.
