QUEEN'S University Belfast has confirmed it has cut all ties, both financial and academic with Israel. The move comes a day after Trinity College Dublin said they will divest from any new arrangements with Israeli universities, firms and institutions. In March, a collective of students and staff from Queen’s organised a march to the US Consulate in Belfast over the USA's complicity in the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

THE raucous, genre-defying film on Irish language rappers Kneecap has scooped the top prize at this year's Celtic Media Festival. Based on the original story of the riotous and ground-breaking Irish-language rap trio Kneecap, the film stars the band’s Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí in their acting debuts alongside Academy Award nominated Michael Fassbender, Simone Kirby and Josie Walker.

WORK has begun on 62 new social housing homes which will transform a derelict site on the Whiterock Road. In December, planning permission was granted for 62 homes on the former Belfast Metropolitan College campus, which is currently the home of Corpus Christi Boxing Club and the Whiterock Children’s Centre. A new building for Whiterock Children’s Centre is also included in the plans. Diggers are now on site, with the work being completed by Co Tyrone developers Newpark Homes.

A WEST Belfast boy has received a special letter from former US President Bill Clinton. Dáithí Mac Gabhann (8) from Ballymurphy has been waiting on a heart transplant for seven years. The youngster inspired a change to the law, known as Dáithí's Law, meaning that most adults are now considered as potential organ donors after their death, unless they actively opt out. In 2023, Dáithí was awarded the Freedom of the City in recognition of his campaign to raise awareness around organ donation.
