    The largest drum in Ireland is to be officially unveiled in Co Cavan tomorrow. An Ruaille Buaille Druma is 13 foot round and can be played by up to 30 people at the same time. The craftspeople involved in its creation have said the idea behind the drum is one of connection, to bring people together for a unique experience. The drum was created by Gearoid Teevan of Drummany Spirit Organic Farm in Milltown, Co Cavan alongside master carpenter Micheal O'Rahill and artist and painter Claire Falcone.

    The sod has been turned for a new €13.5m specialist hospice facility for the Cavan and Monaghan region. St Christopher's Hospice on the outskirts of Cavan town is set to undergo a major expansion and refurbishment. The new development will include a 16-bed inpatient unit to cater for patients requiring specialist palliative and end-of-life care.

    A man has been charged in connection with a number of incidents of criminal damage in the Ravensdale area of Co Louth. Petrol bombs were thrown at a parochial house in Ravensdale, around 10km north of Dundalk, last Sunday night. Damage was caused to the exterior of the property, but the fire was extinguished before it could reach the inside of the house, and there were no injuries. Prior to that, in the early hours of last Saturday morning, the house was defaced with graffiti.
