    SOUTH BEND — A Granger man who suffered debilitating injuries in a crash has been awarded a large financial judgment against the man serving a prison sentence for driving drunk and causing the crash. Ali Elammori, 34, was driving south on Indiana 933 the afternoon of June 11, 2022, when 27-year-old Thaias M. Burris of Granger ran through a red light at Cleveland Road. Burris' Ford F-150 truck hit Elammori's vehicle, according to criminal and civil court documents.

    SOUTH BEND — Community leaders will reportedly undertake an analysis to determine an action plan for The St. Joseph County 911 Center after Sunday's thunderstorms overwhelmed the system. From 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, the dispatch center received 2,886 incoming calls to the 911 and administrative lines, said Nick Brovold, deputy director of operation at the St. Joseph County 911 Center, 176 times as many calls as an average Sunday.
