One person had died and 11 others were injured after an incident in which Elkhart police say multiple people fired handguns early Sunday morning. The incident occurred about 1:11 a.m. in the West Garfield Avenue/Benham Avenue area of Elkhart, according to a press release from Elkhart Police Department. Police received a call of shots fired in the 300 block of West Garfield.
