Brooklyn Heights police chief placed on administrative leave following OVI charges

Brooklyn Heights Police Chief David Meade has been placed on administrative leave as he faces OVI charges. Rocky River police said Meade was driving on I-90 near McKinley Avenue in Lakewood when he allegedly fishtailed in the rain and struck the front of a white Acura. The woman whom Meade allegedly hit followed him to the parking lot of Mitchell's ice cream, according to a Rocky River police report. Police found Meade at Tommy's Summer Place, located next door.
Newburgh Heights police chase ends in crash

A wild chase started in Newburgh Heights and ended in Cleveland Wednesday night. The car crashed at the East 9th Street exit. Our overnight news photographer saw the vehicle being towed. Bay Village High School student dies after lacrosse injury

The Bay Village School District is mourning the death of a high school student after he suffered an injury during a lacrosse match, according to a voicemail Superintendent Scot Prebles left for families. Dylan Veselic was playing against Olmsted Falls on Tuesday when he was critically injured. He was immediately taken into surgery, but died two days later. A mealtrain for the family has already raised more than $30,000.

Apartment complex in Ohio City evacuated overnight following carbon monoxide leak

An apartment complex in Ohio City had to be evacuated because of a carbon monoxide leak. The incident happened after 11 p.m. Tuesday at the Dexter Apartments on Franklin Boulevard. Firefighters were on scene for more than two hours and fans were used to clear the building. The source of the leak is unknown. No one was transported to the hospital. Everyone was able to safely return to their apartments early Wednesday morning.
Extradition hearing set for lawyer allegedly involved in Aliza Sherman killing

CLEVELAND — An extradition hearing for the divorce lawyer who was allegedly involved in the killing of Aliza Sherman has been set. According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, Gregory Moore is expected to appear in court in Williamson County, Texas, on May 14 at 1:30 p.m. "We have been in touch with law enforcement in Williamson County," Alexandria Bauer, public information officer for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's office, told anchor Tracy Carloss.

Woman sics pitbull on another woman during violent fight in Akron

AKRON, Ohio — A woman in Akron suffered serious injuries to her face after she was stabbed by another woman and attacked with a pitbull. Police were called to a home in the 1000 block of Burkhardt Avenue Saturday around 4 a.m. for a report of two women fighting. When they arrived, they learned a woman had been stabbed before a 51-year-old woman sicced her pitbull on that victim. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries to her face.

Attorney General Dave Yost said his office was called in 2021 to help Cleveland solve Aliza Sherman's cold case.
