6 more Kent State students have visas revoked

Six more students and recent graduates from Kent State University have lost their visas. The university said that increases the number of current and former students who have lost their visas to 10. Earlier this week, four students from Case Western Reserve had their visas revoked, as well as two students from Cleveland State.

CLEVELAND — The 48-year-old woman whose vehicle was struck by a car being chased by Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies has died. Tamya Westmoreland was driving a Range Rover on March 28, when she was struck by 24-year-old Nigel Wayne Perry, causing her SUV to go over the traffic bridge at the Eddy Road exit in a ball of flames as she was thrown from the vehicle. Westmoreland died on April 13, News 5 has learned. Perry died in the crash. What happened?

Several East Cleveland police officers are scheduled to be sentenced Monday morning for violating civil rights and public correction. You can watch the sentencing in the player below around 9 a.m.: John Hartman have previously pleaded guilty for their roles. Larry McDonald, Ian McInnes and Anthony Holmes were convicted of a slew of charges. McInnes was found guilty of one count of attempted felonious assault and three counts of assault.
High-speed chase ends in crash in Cleveland

A high-speed chase ended in a crash on the I-71 northbound ramp at West 150th Street. State troopers were chasing a red SUV when it eventually crashed. Our overnight news tracker saw heavy damage to the front end of the SUV. Ramp from I-71 north to W150 open but restricted. OSHP chased a driver to this location. They got off the ramp at a very high speed and crashed. I saw the driver run off. Doesn't seem they were able to catch them as they ran across I-71.
Former Mentor teacher under investigation

According to the district, the teacher is no longer employed and has been asked not to contact students and faculty. "When we learned of these allegations, we acted swiftly.

The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter is offering reduced adoption prices after taking in several dogs from a shelter in Kentucky that was rocked by flooding. The "Blow the Woof Off" promotion will include all dogs that are four months or older. The shelter took in nine dogs from Kentucky's Hopkins County Humane Center after it was hit by severe storms.

Elyria police are asking residents to avoid the area of South Logan Street due to an "uncooperative" individual. Police said the situation is unfolding at a home in the 800 block of South Logan Street. The person inside is wanted for a federal probation warrant related to a weapons violation. Police said the individual is believed to be armed with a handgun or rifle. Schools may be under lockdown as a precaution, but there is no immediate danger to students, say police. News 5 has a crew on scene.

CLEVELAND — In October, we told you about a distinct type of public restroom called a Portland Loo that was coming to Cleveland. Last night, the Cleveland City Council approved a donation to bring them to the Campus District. The three durable stainless-steel kiosks are expected to pop up at Perk Plaza and Canal Basin Park. The city’s first Portland Loo was put up by Cuyahoga County at Payne Avenue and East 17th Street. The bathrooms were purchased with the County CARES Act funds.
