LEXINGTON — Audrey Mahon and her Ontario teammates just keep smashing records. Mahon anchored Ontario’s 4×200 meter relay and 4×400 meter relay teams to regional championships Saturday at Lexington, breaking meet records in both events. The 4×200 crew of Arialyn Bischak, Tessa Crum, Sasha Bulakoski and Mahon set a new record with a winning time of 1 minute, 41.60 seconds. The foursome eclipsed the previous mark of 1:42.06 set by Toledo Central Catholic in 2022.

LEWIS CENTER - Mount Vernon is state-bound for the first time in its girls softball history. Keely Pollard and Jocelyn Scarbury saw to it. Pollard belted a pair of home runs and Scarbury twirled a five-inning no-hitter as the Yellow Jackets thumped Dublin Scioto 11-0 in a Division II regional final Saturday at Olentangy High School. Mount Vernon (26-2) will play Whitehouse Anthony Wayne in the state semifinals at 12:30 p.m. June 7 at Akron's Firestone Stadium.

CLYDE — Makaree Chapman and her Lexington teammates got the monkey off their backs. Chapman twirled a three-hitter and Lady Lex powered to a 6-1 win over Bryan in a Division IV regional championship game Friday at Clyde’s Joe Wilson Field. Lexington (24-3) advanced to the Final Four for the first time since 2002. Lady Lex will play either Kenton Ridge or Licking Valley in the state semifinals at 10 a.m. June 4 at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

GATES MILLS — Kirtland’s bats came to life and Hillsdale’s gloves went into hibernation. The second-seeded Hornets erupted for 11 runs in the home half of the sixth, rallying for a 12-4 win over the seventh-seeded Falcons in a Division VI district championship game at Gilmour Academy’s Figgie Field. Kirtland managed just three hits off Hillsdale starter Aiden Hoffman through the first five innings and trailed 4-1 going to the bottom of the sixth.

LEAVITTSBURG — Hillsdale pitcher Kael Lewis threw a complete-game six-hitter and drove in a pair of runs as the seventh-seeded Falcons knocked off No. 5 LaBrae in a Division VI district semifinal game Thursday afternoon. Hillsdale (15-9) will play second-seeded Kirtland for a district title at 2 p.m. Friday at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills. Kirtland advanced with a run rule-shortened, 10-0 win over Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas. A sophomore right-hander, Lewis walked four and struck out one.
