Summit County Sheriff Kandy Fatheree is one step closer to her planned renovations for the county jail after Summit County was awarded nearly $3 million in state grants. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Director Annette Chambers-Smith awarded $50 million in grants on May 30 across 19 counties for jail renovation and construction plans, according to a news release.

He claims they violated his constitutional rights. A federal judge dismissed all but one of his claims, including all claims against the city of Stow. Now, Philpott is appealing the decision.

Charles Jones and Michael Dowling are accused of paying $4.3 million in bribes to former Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Chairman Sam Randazzo in a pay-to-play scheme.

A 35-year-old Virginia woman who drove 300 miles to Northeast Ohio pleaded guilty to shooting and killing Matthew Dunmire in Cuyahoga Valley National Park in 2021. Chelsea Perkins pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and using a firearm in a violent crime on federal property, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office news release. She could face between 20 and 25 years in prison. Attorneys Alvaro DeCola and Stephen Newman, both federal public defenders, represent Perkins.
