A fire at Davco Personal Care Home on West 10th Street displaced 89 residents early Thursday morning , but no injuries were reported thanks to a swift response from staff and firefighters, according to Owensboro Fire Department officials. The department received an automatic fire alarm call around 12:30 a.m. from the facility at 2526 W. 10th St., and while en route, an employee reported that there was an active fire inside.

Wells, an Owensboro native, has been accepted as a charity runner for the 2025 New York City Marathon. She’ll be running in honor of her daughter, Ruth, who passed away at just 7.5 months old due to complications from congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV). “I told my husband after my first marathon that I would only ever do another if it really meant something to me,” Wells said.

Beginning June 3, the Owensboro Museum of Science and History will open its doors on Tuesdays. Museum officials said the expanded weekly schedule will give families more opportunities to “beat the heat and explore the museum this summer.”Located at 122 East 2nd Street, the museum will now be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. Admission is $5, while children ages 2 and under get in free.
