COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah — A woman was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Cottonwood Heights Monday morning. Police said 73-year-old Yingli “Lily” Lu was hit by a driver near 6200 South Wasatch Boulevard. The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning. SALT LAKE CITY — Utah officials are now offering $30,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot and killed a wild horse on the Onaqui Heard Management Area. SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Supreme Court heard arguments on Wednesday on Amendment D, which if passed, would allow lawmakers to change or repeal citizen-led ballot initiatives. A lower court judge voided the question from the ballot earlier this month because she believed the way the legislature worded the question was misleading. The state is now hoping for a reprieve from the Utah Supreme Court. It could likely take days before the court issues a ruling.

SALT LAKE CITY — One of the most senior members of Utah’s Legislature is retiring. Republican Sen. Curt Bramble, R-Provo, has served in the Utah Legislature for 24 years. He’ll serve through Dec. 31, 2024, said the deputy chief of staff for the Utah Senate. OGDEN, Utah — A tanker truck hauling a mixture of fuel and drain oil spilled a lot of its load onto 21st Street as it exited northbound I-15 in Ogden on Monday. David Reed with the Weber Fire District described the road as being pretty dangerous after the spill. “It was a lot of slosh going through,” he said, “and it came off the truck and onto the ground. It turned the road like black ice.”The spill resulted in a level 2, or moderate, hazmat response.

SALT LAKE CITY — Elder M. Russell Ballard, the Acting President of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has passed away at the age of 95. Melvin Russell Ballard was born October 8, 1928 in Salt Lake City. He was a great-grandson of Hyrum Smith, the brother of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Both of his grandfathers were apostles, Hyrum Mack Smith and Melvin J. Ballard.
