OCALA, Fla. - A pilot was taken to a hospital as a trauma-alert patient late Wednesday after a plane crash-landed in Ocala. The incident happened off SW 67th Avenue Road, about 4 miles from Ocala International Airport. [Watch video below to see footage from the scene] Video from the scene shows the single-engine Cessna on its nose, with a broken propeller. Ocala police said the pilot was the only person on board. The pilot is expected to survive. The FAA will investigate the crash.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orange County deputies late Wednesday shot and killed a woman who attacked them with a knife after they were called to a home where a 911 caller said they had been attacked. The deadly shooting happened around 11 p.m. in an apartment in the 3900 block of Titelist Court. [Watch video below for News 6 report from the scene] The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the agency received a 911 call from someone claiming to have been battered and strangled.

A 78-year-old Clermont man was killed Tuesday night when his SUV crashed head-on with a parked van in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal wreck happened around 7:05 p.m. on 18th Street, west of Woods Street, near South Orange Blossom Trail. The FHP said the man was driving a 2012 Ford Escape east on 18th Steet when he failed to observe the van, which was unoccupied and parked. The front of the SUV struck the front of the van, an FHP crash report stated.
