    The Lake Forest City Council is eliminating its park and recreation board, but holding off similar action on its legal committee. At its May 5 meeting, council members unanimously voted to dissolve the city’s parks and recreation board after initially supporting that measure at its April 21st meeting. The City Council also was expected to dissolve its legal committee, but that measure was tabled amid some concerns from the public.

    Lake Bluff’s Blair Park Pool main pool will not open on time this summer as a repair project is running about two to three weeks behind schedule, officials said. The Lake Bluff Park District originally anticipated opening the pool on May 31. However, that is now being pushed to mid-June amid some problems with the renovation. “We are a little frustrated with the delay, but we know at the end it will be a great project,” Park District Executive Director John Bealer said.

    Two women were killed and an infant sustained serious injuries Friday after a driver struck all three near Winnetka, authorities said. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office reported that at about 6 p.m. Friday, a vehicle was going south on Church Road when it slammed into the two pedestrians and the infant, who was in a stroller, as they were at an intersection with Meadow Road, near the Indian Hill Country Club in unincorporated Winnetka.
