(KOLN) - Nebraska swimmer Gena Jorgenson made a splash at the 2025 Toyota USA National Championships in Indianapolis, shattering her own school record in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:33.79 on Tuesday night. The standout performance earned Jorgenson a sixth-place finish in the event’s fastest heat, which featured none other than world record-holder Katie Ledecky, who won the race in 8:05.76, just over a second off her world-best mark of 8:04.12 set last month.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Fire and Rescue responded to a gas leak near 13th Street and Webb Boulevard Wednesday afternoon. Northwestern Energy notified GIFD around 3:54 p.m. about the leak, according to Battalion Chief Justin Ferris. He said a construction crew installing a fiber line accidentally hit a gas line.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police are asking for the public’s help in locating two missing teenagers believed to be on the run from Wisconsin. Madilyn Short and Braylon Timlin, both 15 years old, were last confirmed to be in northeast Lincoln, near Holdrege and North 98th streets, just after midnight on Thursday. Later that morning, around 9:45 a.m., two teens believed to be Madilyn and Braylon attempted to check into the People’s City Mission.
