Dundalk folk group The Mary Wallopers, known for their raucous performances and captivating musicianship, are set to play Fairview Park on Friday, June 20th. Formed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy with their friend Seán McKenna, who left the group earlier this year, The Mary Wallopers draw crowds for their original tunes and updated covers of songs made by popular by trad giants such as The Dubliners and The Clancy brothers.

Thousands are set to descend on the Phoenix Park this weekend when country music star Zach Bryan will take over the outdoor venue for a string of concerts. Grammy Award winner Bryan, who has almost 25 million monthly Spotify listeners, can be described as one of the biggest country superstars of his generation. The last time the Oklahoma singer was in Ireland, in 2023, he played the Helix at DCU in Dublin, which has a capacity of 1,800.

Two off-duty members of An Garda Síochána were assaulted in Dublin on Saturday, with one left in critical condition. The incident, which happened at about 1.30am on Saturday, took place at the junction of Dame Street and Eustace Street in the city centre. One of the men, aged in his 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is currently in critical condition. The second man was taken to St James’s Hospital for medical treatment and has since been discharged.

Storm Darragh was the strongest to hit the State since Storm Ellen in August 2020. Mace Head in Co Galway recorded a wind speed of 111km/h and a gust speed of 141km/h on Friday night. Very wet and stormy conditions expected across Ireland today as Storm Darragh batters the country. A yellow wind warning issued by Met Éireann remains in place for the entire country until 3pm. About 395,000 homes, farms and businesses across the country were without power as of 7am on Saturday morning.
