    Bobby Darin is having a moment. The singer, who died in 1973, is getting his spotlight turned on again as his 89th birthday, May 14, approaches. The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook is hosting a celebration of his music, "Bobby Darin: Splish Splashin’," May 15-17 and a Darin-themed musical, "Just in Time," recently opened on Broadway. "Bobby Darin was almost like an old-school vaudeville throwback who was born to be on the stage," says Thomas Manuel, founder and president of The Jazz Loft.

    "I heard ya missed us, WE’RE BACK!" David Lee Roth howled on the 1984 Van Halen hit, "Hot for Teacher" and the former VH lead singer’s words could not be more apropos in 2025. Roth, now 70, is going back out on the road this summer, after a five-year absence, with 21 dates including an Aug. 10 gig at The Paramount in Huntington. His most recent Long Island show was 10 years ago with Van Halen at Jones Beach Theater in the summer of 2015. Roth’s last tour dates were in 2020, before the pandemic.

    The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is about to get two new members: former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his wife, singer Candice Night, who make up Blackmore’s Night, a folk-rock duo from Huntington. “I am so honored to be inducted into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame,” said Night in a statement. “Being surrounded by some of the greatest musicians, knowing we all have the same roots here is an incredible feeling.
