    JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Late-night production issues will prevent some Tribune-Democrat subscribers from receiving their print editions until Thursday. Weather-related issues also delayed the newspaper from going to print on time late Tuesday. Due to issues that delayed the newspaper's release, mail customers will receive their newspapers Thursday along with the Thursday edition.

    Flood damage to an Elk Lick Township bridge is closing a busy two-lane section of U.S. Route 219 to traffic indefinitely, state officials said. PennDOT officials confirmed the need for the bridge closure Wednesday. They said a more complete inspection will be conducted after water levels recede on Piney Run. The bridge connects Boynton to Salisbury in southern Somerset County – and is also part of a crucial traffic artery from Somerset to Interstate 68 in Maryland.

    Southern Somerset County was hard hit by flooding Tuesday as rain kept falling late into the evening. Nearly 50 homes in the Meyersdale area were evacuated Tuesday as the fast-rising Casselman River hit flood stage, poured into basements and stranded motorists, officials said. According to Meyersdale fire Chief Mike Miller, six homes reported first floor flooding – while at least two dozen sections of road were closed from Salisbury to Somerset, county emergency officials added.
