CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville softball team has been susceptible to late-inning rallies by their opponents in April, beginning the month 0-4 with a pair of extra-inning defeats as well as a 14-4 loss in a game it led 4-0 after four. But Tuesday afternoon at Coach Andy Evanko Stadium, the Lady Tide snapped their four-game skid by holding off a seventh-inning rally by visiting Juniata Valley in a 6-4 victory, avenging a 12-4 loss to the Hornets early in the season.

CURWENSVILLE — All but one starter in the Claysburg-Kimmel lineup had at least one hit in Thursday’s game against Curwensville, and the Lady Tide committed eight crucial errors to help the visiting Bulldogs pile up 14 runs in a 5-inning shutout at Coach Andy Evanko Stadium. Claysburg-Kimmel scored three runs in each of the first three innings to chase Lady Tide starter Addison Siple from the circle. Only two of the nine runs Siple surrendered were earned.

CURWENSVILLE — After getting shut out on just one hit and striking out nine times in the first four innings of Monday’s game against Curwensville, the Cranberry softball team erupted for 11 runs in the fifth and sixth and went on to beat the Lady Tide 14-4 at Coach Andy Evanko Stadium.

Several wrestlers from Clearfield and Curwensville high schools were named to the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Team. The team is made up of wrestlers who excel both on the mat and academically. Students are honored by being selected for first team, second team, and honorable mention. To make the team, students must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and a win percentage on the mat of .600 or greater with at least 15 bouts wrestled.

CURWENSVILLE — The St. Marys softball team scored seven runs after two outs in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday at Coach Andy Evanko Stadium to break a 2-2 tie and defeat Curwensville 9-2. It was the second straight extra-inning loss for the Lady Tide. St. Marys’ Kaylen Eozzo hit a 1-out infield single in the top of the eighth before Curwensville pitcher Addison Siple struck out Kelsie Fledderman for the second out of the inning.
