CURWENSVILLE — All but one starter in the Claysburg-Kimmel lineup had at least one hit in Thursday’s game against Curwensville, and the Lady Tide committed eight crucial errors to help the visiting Bulldogs pile up 14 runs in a 5-inning shutout at Coach Andy Evanko Stadium. Claysburg-Kimmel scored three runs in each of the first three innings to chase Lady Tide starter Addison Siple from the circle. Only two of the nine runs Siple surrendered were earned.

Several wrestlers from Clearfield and Curwensville high schools were named to the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Team. The team is made up of wrestlers who excel both on the mat and academically. Students are honored by being selected for first team, second team, and honorable mention. To make the team, students must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and a win percentage on the mat of .600 or greater with at least 15 bouts wrestled.

CURWENSVILLE — The St. Marys softball team scored seven runs after two outs in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday at Coach Andy Evanko Stadium to break a 2-2 tie and defeat Curwensville 9-2. It was the second straight extra-inning loss for the Lady Tide. St. Marys’ Kaylen Eozzo hit a 1-out infield single in the top of the eighth before Curwensville pitcher Addison Siple struck out Kelsie Fledderman for the second out of the inning.

HYDE – The Clearfield girls track and field team swept visiting Bald Eagle Area and Tyrone Monday at the Bison Sports Complex, while the Bison boys split their matchups. The Lady Bison defeated BEA 100-50 and edged Tyrone 80-70. The Clearfield boys topped Bald Eagle 81-69, but fell to Tyrone 88-62. Sophia Campolong, Haley Custaney and Bailey Jacob each won a pair of individual events for the Lady Bison. Campolong won the 400 dash in 1:02.89 and the 800 run with a time of 2:39.76.

Collins Breaks School Record in Clearfield Track’s Tri-Meet

HUNTINGDON — Clearfield’s Brady Collins broke the school record in the 100 meter dash in Tuesday’s Track and Field tri-meet at Huntingdon. Collins ran the sprint in a blistering time of 11.36, which was .37 second faster than Huntingdon’s Ben Slusher. Bison Tucker Scott was third in a time of 11.91. Despite Collins’ mark, the Bison fell to the Bearcats 84-66. The Clearfield boys also ran against Philipsburg-Osceola, beating the Mounties 111-39.

NEW BETHLEHEM — Natalie Wischuck homered for the second straight game and Addison Siple tossed her third consecutive shutout Monday in an 8-0 victory over Redbank Valley. Wischuck smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning, scoring Siple in front of her, to give the Lady Tide a 4-0 lead. Wischuck scored two runs and had two RBIs in the game. Siple fired a 4-hitter, while not issuing a walk.

CURWENSVILLE — Addison Siple fanned 10 of the first 11 batters she faced in Thursday’s game against Central Clarion, finishing with 14 strikeouts in a 5-inning, no-hitter against the Wildcats. She added a pair of run-producing doubles with her bat as the Lady Tide earned a 12-0 Mercy Rule victory at Coach Andy Evanko Stadium. Siple went to a full count four times in the game, recording two strikeouts and walking two in those situations, while also issuing a 4-pitch base on balls.
