With an IQ in the top 1% of his age group, he recently became a member of the prestigious American Mensa Society. His father explained he and his wife realized by the age of three that he was reading books and comprehending what he read.

    EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Lots of growth going on in Effingham County as leaders try to maintain the rural feel that makes the community special. County manager Tim Callanan joined WTOC’s Dawn Baker for Welcome to our Community to share some insight into some much needs changes. As for the Highway 21 traffic issues, they’re widening the road while working with partners in Port Wentworth, Savannah and Chatham County to find a solution. Plans are also in the works for the Effingham Parkway.

A group of Statesboro residents including Adrianne McCollar and Dr. Patrick Novotny have become partners in the mission. They joined WTOC’s Dawn Baker on Welcome to our Community to share the group’s research that also uncovered nine documented lynching’s in Bulloch County. There is a now a historic marker telling that the story right in front of Statesboro City Hall.
