MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce put their first “buddy bench” in place Tuesday afternoon at Claiborne Elementary School in West Monroe. Officials with the chamber said it is meant to help kids that feel lonely. “All we need is a friend and you never know what positive impact you can make on someone’s life,” project manager Ashley Dowling said.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Christmas Lights at Kiroli Park kicked off the monthlong display Friday night. The display will be open every Thursday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Christmas day. Ouachita Parish resident and downtown West Monroe worker Hampton Roane called Christmas the “perfect” time for parents in the area to bring their children out.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Saturday morning Dominique McKane walked across the stage to receive her undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University after being victim of a stabbing incident on Monday. McKane suffered multiple stab wounds, a fractured vertebra, and a collapsed lung from the attack. Through it all, she still put on her cap and gown walked across the stage during commencement. McKane told KNOE in a statement, “It was so great. I was so thankful for all of the accommodations made for me.”
