University of Galway has launched its Pocket Forest project, planting a new 100m2 native woodland on campus. Led by the Pocket Forests social enterprise, the mini-woodland was created by a team made up of university staff and students, Transition Year students from Coláiste Muire Máthair, Galway, community volunteers and Brendan Smith from Terryland Forest Park. Supported by Lifes2Good Foundation, the Pocket Forest is located on North campus behind the Institute for Lifecourse and Society.

BY Declan VarleyShannon Airport has claimed the top spot in the travel category and ranked fourth overall in Ireland's Customer Experience Insights (CXi ) Report 2024. The national report, widely regarded as a benchmark for customer satisfaction, evaluated 175 organisations, of which 150 were ranked across 11 categories. Shannon Airport's rise in the rankings is a major achievement, as it now leads the travel sector and ranks as the highest-rated airport in the country.

BY DECLAN VARLEYThe Marine Institute recently welcomed the 2024 cohort of Bursary Students to the Institute’s Headquarters in Rinville, Oranmore, Co. Galway. Presentation day is an important part of the Bursary Programme as it allows the Bursary Students to showcase their work over the course of their Bursary. The Bursary Programme has been running since the 1960s and offers undergraduate students work experience in a marine science setting before concluding their undergraduate studies.
