AIKEN — New businesses are on their way to Aiken Towne Park, located on the Southside where the former site of the Aiken Mall is being redeveloped. The latest additions to be revealed are Mirin Fusion Kitchen and Sky Nails. There already are Mirin Fusion Kitchen restaurants in Georgia in Augusta and Evans. The Mirin Fusion Kitchen page on Facebook describes them as “fast casual Asian fusion” eateries.

AIKEN — The Kalmia Plaza shopping center welcomed a new store June 4 when Ace Hardware opened for business. Georgia resident Mike Hubert is the owner, according to Lead Associate Chloe McMinn. “Mike’s priority is giving excellent customer service,” she said. “The customer is always right is his biggest motto.”Hubert’s other Ace Hardwares are in the Peach State in Augusta, Grovetown and Warrenton, McMinn added. She said that Matthew Hubert manages the Aiken store for his father.

AIKEN — Aiken County could soon become the home of another data center. Plans for the construction of an information storage facility in the Graniteville/Vaucluse area received the support of County Council on June 3. During its meeting at the Aiken County Government Center, the panel unanimously approved the third and final reading of an ordinance that will provide a fee in lieu of property taxes agreement with Clop Aiken SC LLC.

AIKEN — The Briar Patch Antiques store is a new business that celebrates the past, but not just because of the heirlooms and collectibles that it offers for sale. Heather Braun’s shop, where a soft opening was held June 2, is at 724 Richland Ave. West, where her late father, Dr. Kenneth Braun, used to practice optometry. “My brother (Richi Braun) and I ran the office with him, and then he retired,” Heather Braun said.
