    CORMAC Meehan, owner of Meehan Travel Worldchoice and Sean Meehan Chartered Valuation Surveyors, Bundoran, has announced that he will retire at the end of August. His retirement will see the closure of these businesses after 75 years of successful trading and service to the public in the north west. Cormac has been at the helm of these businesses since January 1987 following the death of his father, Sean Meehan, who started the business in 1950.

    By Dionne MeehanTHE funeral has taken place of Susan Hamilton, the Manorcunningham woman who has been remembered for her kind and tender heart. Ms Hamilton (74),  tragically lost her life when the car she was driving collided with a van  at Bunlin Bridge, Milford last Friday. A native of Inch Island, her requiem Mass took place on Friday morning in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Inch Island.

    Finn Harps have been drawn at home to fellow First Division club UCD in the 2025 Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup second round. The draw was made at lunchtime today and Harps fans will be happy to see their team receive a home draw. Today’s draw saw the 20 League of Ireland clubs go into the hat along with 12 non-league sides. The cup holders Drogheda United were drawn at home to Crumlin United while league champions Shelbourne will be away to non-league Fairview Rangers.

    A very generous donation of €9,709 was recently presented to St Joseph’s Oncology Patient Comfort Fund at University Hospital Galway (UHG) in memory of the late Clement Gallagher from Inver who had been a patient in St Joseph’s Ward. The cheque was presented to the Oncology Patient Comfort Fund by Clement’s wife Kathleen Gallagher, Olive Mc Kelvey, sister and Peter Campbell, brother-in-law. The funds were raised during a céile which had all been organised by Clement before his passing.
