We’re talking about Al’s Oasis, that’s located along I-90 halfway across the state near Chamberlain. It’s been around since 1919 and in all that time it’s only had three owners. The third and current owner says he never ever had any desire to get into the bar and restaurant business.

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Eighty-one years ago on Friday, allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, to try and liberate western Europe from Germany during World War II. A local historian has made the trip to Normandy a few times to remember the South Dakotans who played a role in the historical invasion known as D-Day. The landings at Normandy involved a massive amphibious assault, with nearly 160,000 troops who were under heavy fire.

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota has lost one of its legendary football players this week. Doug Eggers, who grew up in Wagner, played five seasons in the NFL, including along side Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts. Eggers died this week at the age of 93. KELOLAND News sat down with a man who knew Eggers well, because his dad played with him in Baltimore. Eggers graduated from South Dakota State University 1952, where he was a standout linebacker for the Jackrabbits.

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — You may have noticed as the weather warms up, more mosquitoes are starting to show up, especially with all the rain we’ve been getting lately. That’s why the city of Sioux Falls will soon ramp up its efforts to get the pesky insects under control. Todd Dickens likes to ride the city’s bike trails, but what he doesn’t like are mosquitoes. Thankfully, he says he hasn’t had to worry about them yet.

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Another state employee is in trouble with the law. This time, a state health worker is accused of falsifying her own medical marijuana card. KELOLAND News obtained the court papers for 24-year-old Alexandra Feiner. Court documents say Feiner admitted to other state employees that she issued herself her own medical marijuana card without following proper procedures.
