Jamie King, 39, was found dead at his flat in the city having taken protonitazene, a synthetic painkiller so dangerous it never passed clinical trials.

Norfolk Coroner's Court in Norwich (Image: Denise Bradley) A date has been set for an investigation into the death of a man who was seriously injured during a crash 20 years ago. Stephen Smith, who was epileptic, suffered a traumatic brain injury following a road traffic accident in 2005. The 50-year-old, who lived in assisted housing in Norfolk, died on July 28 last year. An inquest into his death has now been scheduled to take place at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on May 5.

2 1/1 An inquest into the death of a Norfolk editor, writer and wildlife artist is due to take place later in the year. Philip Yorke-Edgell, of Guist, near Dereham, died at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital on August 23 last year. At an earlier opening at the court, the medical cause was given as subdural haemorrhage - but how he became injured currently remains a mystery. Now it is for a coroner at Norfolk Coroner's Court to determine how he came by his death.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital at King's Lynn (Image: Denise Bradley) A probe into how a woman died at a Norfolk hospital following an epileptic seizure has been launched a year and a half after her death. Angela Meredew, of Downs Close in Hunstanton, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on September 12, 2023. Senior coroner, Jacqueline Lake, recently opened an inquest into the retired saleswoman’s death at Norfolk Coroner’s Court.
