    The San Jose Earthquakes have agreed to a new contract with Salinas goalkeeper Emi Ochoa. The deal ties Ochoa to the club through the 2027 season. The Quakes also hold team options in 2028 and 2029. Of the signing, Quakes general manager Chris Leitch said, “We’re pleased to have Emi Ochoa continue his professional journey as a homegrown player with the San Jose Earthquakes."Ochoa is only 19 years old but has been with the club since November of 2019.

    Santa Cruz swimmer Caspar Corbeau has won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. While representing the Netherlands, Corbeau finished third in the men's 200-meter breaststroke final inside Paris La Defense Arena on Wednesday. Corbeau posted a time of 2:07.90 in the final. French swimmer Leon Marchand took home gold. Zac Stubblety-Cook of Australia finished second.Corbeau swam collegiately at the University of Texas at Austin. He competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

    Monterey Bay F.C. is moving on from sporting director and head coach Frank Yallop, the club announced on Wednesday. The club did not provide greater detail about the decision but said the two sides were "parting ways."Yallop is the only head coach that this team has known, joining the club back in 2021. Yallop’s assistant coach and former player, Ramiro Corrales, is also out. The Salinas native will not be with the club going forward.

    Aptos native Janie Houser finished fourth place at one of the nation's top high school wrestling competitions. Houser posted a 6-2 record at the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota, last week. She competed in the 130-pound weight class and was selected from some of the top wrestlers in the state to represent California at the tournament. In high school, Houser wrestled for the Sunnyvale Wrestling Club. She graduated from Aptos High School in June.
