Wexford brand O’Driscolls Irish Whiskey is the new sponsor of the internationally prestigious Leopardstown Chase at the 2024 Dublin Racing Festival. The race is the feature race of the festival, which takes place at Leopardstown Racecourse on Saturday, 3rd February and Sunday, 4th February next year. The Leopardstown Chase is one of the oldest races in the country with the first race run in 1889.

Chemist Warehouse, a global pharmacy retail chain, has opened its ninth store in Ireland at Westend Shopping Park in Blanchardtown, just three years after opening its first Irish store at the same venue. As part of its expansion plans, Chemist Warehouse will open two more stores in early 2024 in Artane, Dublin and in Cork city centre. In total, the company is seeking to open an additional 6-8 stores across various Irish locations next year.

Unemployment in Ireland rose fractionally in November to 4.8%, up 0.1% from October and up 0.3% from the same month in 2022, according to latest data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The seasonally adjusted number of people unemployed was 132,700 in November 2023, compared with 131,800 in October 2023. The percentage of males unemployed at 4.9% was unchanged from the revised rate in October 2023, but up from a revised rate of 4.2% in November 2022.
