    Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday morning that closed Highway 12 for more than an hour, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said. Emily B. Olson, 29, of Cottage Grove, was driving east on Highway 12 about 7:30 a.m. and stopped to make a left turn to Oak Park Road in the town of Deerfield. Tammy J. Reichert, 31, of Deerfield, who was also driving east, struck Olson's vehicle from behind.

    With a jury chosen and waiting to hear opening statements in his murder trial, a Madison man took a deal and pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to shooting another man to death last summer on Madison’s South Side. Tyrone M. Isaac Jr., 28, was headed to trial Tuesday on a first-degree intentional homicide charge for the Aug. 30 shooting death of Darren L. Goodwan, 27, but instead pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless homicide.

    Fires damaged two homes on Sunday in Beloit, including one in which three firefighters sustained minor injuries. The first was reported at 1:22 p.m. at 1506 Jackson St. Firefighters arrived to see smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home. Nobody was home, but a dog was rescued and given oxygen and was reported to be doing fine.
