    Marion Miller Nelson, 87, of Burlington, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington. Marion was born in Burlington on Nov. 8, 1936, to Elmer and Margaret (nee Furman) Tesch. She grew up in Burlington and was a lifelong resident. She attended Alverno College and Union Grove Teachers College receiving her bachelor’s degree in education. Immediately after receiving her degree, she started teaching first grade at St. Mary’s in Burlington.

    Pam, born Sept. 17, 1948, to the late Earl and Florence (Hardie) Hess in Racine, passed away May 24, 2024, at Arbor View Assisted Living Center. Pam led a life full of passion and service. Graduating from Park High School in 1966 and later attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, her journey was marked by her unwavering dedication to her interests and community. Always an avid horse and dog-lover, Pam began showing horses in 1958.

    Joyce Darlene Vorpagel, 89, of Burlington, went home to the Lord to embrace her loving husband, Earl on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Born in Burlington on July 11, 1934, and raised in Bloomfield on the family farm, she was the daughter of William and Eleanor (nee Schwanz) Steffen. Story has it that the first time Earl saw Joyce was from across the football field when a light came shining down on her, and that was it, he was in love. They were married on Sept. 23, 1950.

    Albert J. Schmidt, 89, passed away on May 25, 2024, at his residence in Burlington. Albert was born Feb. 23, 1935, to George and Emma (nee Grossman) Schmidt in Wisconsin. He married the love of his life, Linda M. Mitchell, on March 3, 1963. They were married over 57 years, with the majority of those years residing in Burlington. Albert worked for Burlington Brass Works and Ardagh Glass for 28 years. Albert is survived by his daughter, Christine L. (Michael E.) Lois; grandson, Michael A.

    Albert “Bud” A. Gores, 95, of Burlington, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington. Born in Byron on Feb. 13, 1929, he was the son of Walter and Esther (nee Johnson) Gores. His early life was spent in Burlington, where he graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1947. He served in the Army Air Force in the Occupation of Japan from 1948 until 1950 and was honorably discharged as an army sergeant.
