BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A Bismarck man was arrested and charged with luring minors on Thursday. Bismarck police officers say on April 7, 34-year-old Jose Portalatin Perez Facebook messaged someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl. Officers say the two had explicit conversations about sex and made plans to meet on May 8 in a parking lot. Law enforcement arrested him without incident. Investigators matched Perez’s clothing to one of the pictures he sent the girl.
Williston man given two life sentences for attempted murder

WILLISTON, N.D. (KFYR) - A Williston man was sentenced on May 8 to two life sentences in prison for two counts of attempted murder and reckless endangerment charges. Joshua Martinez was arrested in 2023 after he fired a gun at two police officers while attempting to flee a traffic stop. A jury found Martinez guilty on Jan. 22, 2025. Neither officer was injured. Martinez pleaded not guilty to all charges in September 2023. Martinez does have the possibility of parole. Copyright 2025 KFYR.

MANDAN, N.D. (KFYR) - A Mandan man was arrested following a child sex crimes investigation. Marcus Lausch is charged with promoting a sexual performance by a minor and possessing child sex abuse materials. Mandan police officers began investigating the 21-year-old Lausch after receiving a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that indicated Lausch had uploaded at least one video of child sexual abuse material to his Discord account.

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A Bismarck man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault for stabbing another man this week. Bismarck police officers say witnesses say 36-year-old Billy Baker stabbed another man with a knife in a house on N. 3rd Street. The victim told police he’d been sitting on the edge of the bed talking with Baker when Baker stabbed him three times in the back. Officers arrested Baker, and he made his initial court appearance on Tuesday. His bond was set at $50,000.
