MEDORA, N.D. (KFYR) - There’s a new place to spend the night in Medora. In a town filled with history, the Ferris Inn might just be the most historic spot. The general store opened in 1885. BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - You’ve probably heard the story of the fire that destroyed the North Dakota State Capitol building. The state Historical Society says on December 28, 1930, a janitor heard a loud cracking noise. When he went outside, he saw flames coming from the Senate chambers on the fourth floor. The fire destroyed all but the two lower floors of the north wing. Thanks to then Secretary of State Robert Byrne, one very important piece of our state’s history was not lost in the fire.
