TACOMA, Wash. — The Pierce County Prosecutor's Office on Friday said the person arrested in the death of a 17-year-old Mount Tahoma High School student will be released. No charges have been filed in the days following the 20-year-old suspect's arrest to allow for further investigation, PCPO said. Veron Lockett, 17, died after he suffered a fatal gunshot wound on April 20, in the 1700 block of East 41st Street in Tacoma.

The city's population has more than doubled over the last two decades. More growth is expected through 2050, according to senior transportation planner Thomas Valdriz, who spoke to the city council on Monday.
