MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A 2.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded early Tuesday morning near Mount Vernon. The shakes were recorded around 1:59 a.m. Tuesday about 3 kilometers west of Mount Vernon, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. It was recorded at a depth of 8.7 km. No impacts from the earthquake have been reported so far.

SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines announced Tuesday it will start offering a nonstop flight to Rome next year. It’s the first nonstop flight from Seattle to Italy, and Rome is the largest European destination that’s not currently served with nonstop service from Seattle, according to the Seattle-based airline. “Rome has been at the top of the list ever since we announced our new global gateway out of Seattle,” Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci said in a statement.
