University College Cork (UCC) has received its highest leading education ranking in a decade, rising 27 places to 246th in the world. The QS World University Rankings are an independent assessment which examines universities against indicators relating to academic reputation, employer reputation, internationalisation, teaching, research, sustainability, as well as the employment outcomes of graduates. The rise comes on the back of a 19-place improvement last year.

Drone delivery service, Manna Air Delivery, has lodged contentious plans to establish a new aerial food delivery hub for Dundrum in Dublin 14. Manna Drones Ltd has lodged the plans with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for the aerial delivery hub on lands at an existing car park site to the rear of Main Street and the rear of Holy Cross Church in Dundrum.

A High Court challenge to a change in membership of the board of the company running the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland is being strongly disputed, a judge has been told. A dispute over control of the Al Maktoum Foundation CLG, which owns the centre in Clonskeagh, Dublin, reached the court last month when Mr Justice Brian Cregan was told it had arisen out of the alleged unlawful appointment of new directors to the foundation company.

Sean McGovern, who has challenged the legality of his extradition from the United Arab Emirates to face charges of murder and directing a criminal organisation, has made an application to change his legal team. At the Special Criminal Court on Wednesday, legal representatives for McGovern said that Michael Staines solicitors wished to withdraw from the case, with the accused to now be represented by Wayne Kenny solicitors.
