Construction will begin next week on the first phase of a $27 million project to revitalize the Wall Street area, which Mayor Harry Rilling said “used to be a thriving, vibrant area” that has struggled mightily since devastating storms in 1955. “There were studies done trying to revitalize this area. I’m very proud of our administration finally going to be doing something,” Rilling said Tuesday as he presided over a groundbreaking ceremony attended by city and state officials.

City officials laid out for South Norwalk residents a look at plans to improve travel, access, and aesthetics in and around the train station and highlighted a $14 million 2024 grant that will fund improvements along the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard corridor. The designs outlined Tuesday by Jim Travers, the city’s director of Transportation, Mobility and Parking, came out of multiple community meetings.

We are appalled by the recent Instagram post by State Senator Bob Duff of Norwalk and Darien, where he shared a video comparing Hitler to former President Donald Trump. In the post, Duff wrote, “While the fascist rally starring Hitler 2.0 is ongoing at MSG, I thought this would be a good time to post this video.”Our Response: There is no appropriate time for incendiary comparisons or divisive rhetoric. Sharing content like this is unnecessary and dismissive of those whose opinions may differ.
