0 The Office of Commuter Life at Montclair State recently presented students with a new app, RideShark, which is designed to make their daily commute easier and help cut down on carbon emissions. Emily Inserra, coordinator for Commuter Life, explained the app. “RideShark is the perfect platform for college students who want to do more than just get from point A to point B,” Inserra said.

1 With concepts like the all-campus loop, the Bloomfield shuttle, and even the new Night Hawk shuttle, many students aim to take advantage of the shuttle services to get around both on and off campus. However, despite their designed convenience, the common themes of delays and overcrowding on shuttles affects students’ ability to get to class on time. Jason Bonilla, a sophomore computer science major, often considers walking due to the long wait times.

March 20, 2024 App State Housing allows for select animals to live on campus. Emotional support animals provide comfort and reassurance to their owner, while service animals provide trained support and perform tasks. Both are allowed in the dorms, as long as their owners fill out the proper paperwork to register and certify them. ESAs have proven to be beneficial in recent studies, and have an increased presence in many colleges and universities.

The Columbia Chronicle won a best newspaper award at the national College Media Association conference in New York City and first place for crisis coverage for its reporting on the historic part-time faculty strike last fall. Editor-in-Chief Olivia Cohen and Deputy Editor Leah Love led the newsroom’s strike coverage in the fall. Both are senior journalism majors.

March 4, 2024 App State has, until now, cultivated an essence of mountain-loving, country-enthusiasts and passionate people who reside in Boone. A key motivator for current students to attend was this ambiance, local community and pride of residing in a beautiful space. The potential of this university has been squashed by cash-grab attempts to lure students here at the expense of the locals, current students and the environment.
