Roys is one of Norfolk's most famous retail names. Synonymous with Wroxham as 'the world's largest village store', its shops have been loved by generations of Norfolk residents - and holidaymakers who have popped in for supplies while enjoying the Broads. Roys was founded in 1895 by brothers Alfred and Arnold Roy, who opened their first general store in Coltishall.

We have both spent all our working lives in hospitality, mainly in the north Norfolk area. Diss Mere The name Diss comes from the six-acre body of water known as the Mere at its heart. It is one of the deepest natural inland lakes in the country and Dic or Disce is the Saxon word for ‘ditch of standing water’. There has been much speculation about its origins over the centuries – including that it was a flooded natural volcano crater.

During the Iron Age, the town was a major centre for the Iceni tribe, led by the iconic queen Boudica, who rebelled against the Roman Empire.
