Renfrewshire care home staff have won prestigious prizes at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Scotland Awards 2025. Kirsty Cartin, manager at Rashielee care home in Erskine, scooped the top honour and was crowned nurse of the year at the ceremony, held in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

Officers turned up at Kieran MacDonald’s Graham Street address in September last year looking for a person who had been reported missing. Instead of locating the individual, cops found a knuckle duster on the 21-year-old’s kitchen worktop.

Education Scotland has delivered its verdict on the school following a visit. Kilbarchan Primary School is celebrating a positive inspection report from Education Scotland. The school was awarded two good grades for its learning, teaching and assessment; and raising attainment and achievement. The report praised the acting head teacher and senior leadership team for the school’s nurturing and inclusive ethos.

A Paisley high school’s “caring supportive relationships” have been praised by the education watchdog after a recent inspection. A team of inspectors from Education Scotland visited Gleniffer High School in March when they spoke with parents, carers and young people and worked closely with the head teacher and staff.
