There was major disruption for families on one Shannon Airport flight yesterday after Gardaí were called out to deal with a passenger acting aggressively on board. The 8pm Ryanair flight FR1168 bound to Palma de Mallorca on Wednesday was delayed for over two hours due to issues that arose shortly before the scheduled takeoff.

Holidaymakers flying out of Munster's regional airport are being warned to take "alternate methods of transport" this bank holiday weekend. This comes as the airport is alerting customers on its website that spaces in all three of their car parks - including the long-stay Red and Blue car parks - have completely sold out. This means passengers who haven't pre-booked and plan on driving to the airport may have nowhere to leave their vehicles while on holidays.

Beachgoers are being urged to take "extra care" at one Cork swim spot after the Irish Coast Guard responded to a number of callouts there in recent weeks. In a new alert, the crew at the Seven Heads Coast Guard has warned of difficult swimming conditions at Coolmain Beach near Courtmacsherry. They say the terrain at the beach is "ever-shifting," meaning there are sharp drops in sand levels which can be hidden below the water.

Taxpayers are forking out hundreds of euro a week to pay for the accommodation of the Michael Gaine suspect, it has emerged. As officers continue their probe into the murder of Kenmare farmer Mr Gaine, sources have told The Irish Mirror that the suspect is living in a flat paid for out of state coffers. "He is not paying for it himself, he is being given accommodation," a source said. It's believed the accommodation is costing at least €250 a week.
