A convicted murderer who escaped custody from correction officers in California in December is now accused of killing a Mexican police commander. Cesar Hernandez, 34, who was serving a life sentence for murder, escaped from the custody of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on Dec. 2, according to a flyer released by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico and the U.S. Marshals Service on Friday.

Jackie and Shadow, the Big Bear bald eagle couple whose parenting journey has been livestreamed to the world, appear to be missing one of the three eaglets that hatched this season. Video of the nest posted to social media Thursday afternoon showed three baby birds in the nest being fed by their parents. But as of Friday, only two eaglets appeared to be in Jackie and Shadow's nest, according to the Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest Cam. It's not clear what happened to the third eaglet.

Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash inside a southwest Wyoming highway tunnel Friday, the state Department of Transportation said. Authorities shut down traffic in both directions along Interstate 80 in Green River after the pileup. The major, coast-to-coast roadway runs from San Francisco to Teaneck, New Jersey. Other injuries were reported, but details were not yet available. The transportation department said the tunnel has been evacuated.

The Michoacán Attorney General’s Office identified the victims by their first names, Gloria and Rafael. The office said the wife, 50, was found dead following reports Thursday that the occupants of a black Ford pickup truck had been shot in Angamacutiro. The husband, 53, was injured in the shooting but died at the hospital, the office said in a translated statement.
